Taking care of your furniture

Furniture

We have made our furniture as easy to care for as possible. With little effort on your part it will continue to look fantastic for many years to come. With our passion for wood you can appreciate that we like to protect our furniture, at the same time as allowing the natural beauty to shine through as much as possible.

Painted Cabinetry

All of our painted cabinetry is finished with a robust, water based arcylic. Daily care can be carried out with the wipe of a dry duster or microfibre cloth. To remove marks or spills simply wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid permanent marks from things such as red wine, coffee or lemon / lime juice by wiping away immediately. If is important that you do not apply any harsh spray polishes or creams to painted surfaces

Hard Wood Pieces

Our hardwood furniture is made from solid wood and as a such it can be affected by environmental factors such as temperature and humidity changes. These factors can cause the wood to expand and contract. With this in mind, please do not place your furniture near to wood burners, radiators or underfloor heating.

All wooden components of our furniture are finished with Osmo Polyx Oil which is a hard wax oil that allows the wood to be protected and, at the same time, look as natural as possible. The finish is dry before it leaves our workshop but it will be fully cured approximately four weeks after application.

To remove marks or spills simply wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid permanent marks from things such as red wine, coffee or lemon / lime juice by wiping away immediately. It is important that you do not apply any harsh spray polishes or creams. Osmo do offer a dedicated spray product for cleaning pieces finished in their Polyx Oil. This can be found via their website.

Tough marks and scratches may need to be remedied by sanding and then reapplying Osmo Polyx oil if you feel the damage is severe enough.

Serving and Charcuterie Boards

Our serving and charcuterie boards are all made of solid British ash. To preserve the beauty of our boards, whilst maintaining a food safe finish, we apply Manns Top Oil. Made from a blend of plant based waxes and oils, Manns top oil is not only completely food safe it is also vegan friendly.

Once dry the finish really highlights the character of the ash as well as providing a robust finish. However, should you wish to ‘refresh’ the surface of one of our boards you can gently sand with 240 grit paper and reapply.
